Breaking it Down

Did you ever have a really big event that got cancelled?
Disassembling it is nearly as much work as it was to put it together, right?
So that's what I'm doing. Breaking it all down, putting it all away.
We're still waiting to hear if the airline will make a schedule change so we can get a full refund on the ticket cost. Otherwise - if they don't make changes and WE decide to cancel anyway, we only get 80% refund, which means we take a loss of $450. Such a deal, huh? I want out of this deal altogether. No more Qatar Airlines trips for me! I didn't like the idea in the first place. But there are only two choices to fly from Medford to Tashkent - either Qatar or Turkish Airlines. Both are dodgy places with long layovers.
So .... I must confess, the bloom is off the rose. The air is out of the sails. No more oomf for this trip. I feel a complete state of collapse in interest and verve.
I canceled my ride to and from the airport.
Now I have two beautiful new suitcases with custom designed covers:

Other travel gadgets I purchased for this trip:
Portable nebulizer
International voltage converter for chargers
Brita filtered water bottle
Palm size electronic language translator
Clothing
Gifts
Travel bags & organizers
I hope I get to use these things some day for a new and exciting trip. Even a road trip, at this point, would feel somewhat redemptive.
I have these tiny little pots with cosmetic creams & gels ... do I save them or use them?
Each thing that gets unpacked and put away sort of takes a little bit of my joy away.
But like all other things, it too shall pass.
.... long, deep sigh.
